According to the main objectives and current policies of the Journal of Geomine, which aim to employ scientific capabilities and develop educational, research, and technological features, a mutual cooperative agreement has been undertaken and signed as a deal between the Journal of Geomine and two national well-known societies, the "Iranian Society of Mining Engineering" and the "Iranian Society of Rock Mechanics."

The core of these official agreements is based on the following aspects:

  • To establish mutual scientific cooperation between researchers in various mining engineering branches and concepts
  • To hold scientific events and workshops

The Journal of Geomine (JGM) is a quarterly peer reviewed (blind peer-review) publication of Department of Mining Engineering, University of Birjand, Birjand, Iran. JGM publishes original research papers, case studies, technical notes, and short communications on various aspects of Mining and related issues include, but are not limited to the following fields:

  • Mineral Exploration
  • Mining Engineering
  • Mine Safety Science and Technology
  • Geomechanics and Geoengineering
  • Mineral Processing
  • Coal Mining and production
  • Mining Environment and Sustainable Development

In pursuit of these topics, the geoscientific disciplines are invited to contribute their knowledge and experience. Major disciplines include: Geostatistics, hydrogeology, hydrochemistry, geochemistry, geophysics, GIS and remote-sensing, industrial minerals, quarry mining, mine planning and management, pollution and waste management, mine reclamation, tunneling and underground space, slope stability, mine equipment and systems, hydrometallurgy, biotechnology, nanotechnology, soft computing and machine learning.

JGM only publishes manuscripts in English.

JGM aims for a first decision to be made within 6-8 weeks from submission to the first decision after peer review.

JGM is an open access journal. There are no article processing charges and no submission fees.

Submission of a manuscript implies that the manuscript has not been published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, or thesis or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

Papers that describe ongoing work or announce the latest technical achievement, which are suitable for presentation at a professional conference, may not be appropriate for publication in JGM.

Technical papers submitted for publication must advance the state of knowledge and must cite relevant prior work.

The length of a submitted paper should be commensurate with the importance, or appropriate to the complexity, of the work. For example, an obvious extension of previously published work might not be appropriate for publication or might be adequately treated in just a few pages.

All accepted manuscripts are automatically transferred to the publisher.

Corresponding Author acts on behalf of all co-authors and is responsible for:

  • ensuring that all listed authors have approved the manuscript before submission, including the names and order of authors;
  • managing all communication between JGM and all co-authors, before and after publication
  • making sure disclosures, declarations and transparency on data statements from all authors are included in the manuscript as appropriate.

Authors must convince both peer reviewers and the editors of the scientific and technical merit of a paper; the standards of proof are higher when extraordinary or unexpected results are reported.

Supplemental material can be a dataset, file set or anything which supports the paper will be published online.
